How Often Should Commercial Roller Shutters Be Serviced?

Commercial roller shutters take a daily battering, opening and closing dozens of times, exposed to the weather, and often the first line of defence against break-ins. Regular servicing keeps them working properly and catches small issues before they become expensive repairs or, worse, a shutter that won't open on a busy trading day.

We recommend having commercial roller shutters serviced at least once a year, and twice a year for high-use doors such as those on warehouses, loading bays or busy retail units. A service typically includes checking the motor and drive mechanism, lubricating moving parts, testing safety features and looking for signs of wear on the slats, guides and springs.

Watch out for warning signs between services too: grinding or scraping noises, a shutter that's slow to open or close, visible dents or misaligned slats, or a remote or control that's becoming unreliable. If you notice any of these, it's worth getting it looked at rather than waiting for it to fail completely.
